典型地区

典型地区(Type locality),也称为典型区域,是指首次确定的特定岩石类型地层单位矿物种类产地[1]。如果一个地区的地层单位呈层状,则称为层型,而无分层岩石的参考标准则是典型地区[2]

该术语类似考古学中的术语“典型遗址”(type site)或生物学中的术语“标准标本”(type specimen)。
